When motorists are injured in car accidents in West Virginia, they might expect to recover compensation for their medical expenses and hospital bills. However, injured motorists should also know that they may be entitled to recover compensation for other losses when they are harmed by negligent drivers.
A serious car accident may result in more than just physical injuries. For example, a couple who was injured in a rear-end collision two summers ago has experienced a great deal of consequences resulting from the crash. The couple's injuries were so severe that they now have a diminished capacity to enjoy life, they have experienced inconveniences due to their injuries and physical limitations, their earning capacity has been impaired, and the couple's relationship has even been affected since the crash.
In order to recover compensation for these sufferings, the couple is now pursuing a personal injury lawsuit against the parties that are responsible for causing their injuries and suffering.
According to the lawsuit, the West Virginia couple was injured in a serious collision on Interstate 77 in June 2011 while the wife was driving. Traffic was slowing ahead of the couple, and the wife began to slow down as well. However, a driver behind the couple had failed to slow down with the rest of traffic and crashed into the couple's vehicle. The force of the collision then caused the couple's car to crash into a vehicle that was in front of them.
The wife and husband were seriously injured in the rear-end collision. The couple now claims that the driver who struck them was negligent and should have been able to avoid hitting their car. The couple's lawsuit also names McDonald's USA LLC as a defendant because the driver who struck the wife and husband was operating a vehicle owned by McDonald's.
Details about the couple's injuries are not known, but their injuries were severe enough to limit their physical abilities and to have a negative impact on the husband's future earning capacity.
If you have been injured in a crash, you may experience similar losses. If you do not make sure that you recover all of the compensation you may be entitled to receive after a crash, you may end up facing financial hardships as well. To prevent this from happening to you, you may want to contact a personal injury attorney who will fight to protect your rights and future after suffering serious injuries in an accident.
