The West Virginia Human Rights Act is meant to protect workers against discrimination based on their status in a defined class. One of those classes relates to age. There is also federal law -- the Age Discrimination in Employment Act -- that protects workers from age discrimination.

Discrimination, sexual harassment suit against Paula Deen dropped

When a person feels they are being discriminated against at work, they might feel that they don't have anywhere to turn for help. If they speak up, they could be retaliated against, and might fear that they will lose their job. A former employee and manager of Paula Deen's restaurant in another state filed a lawsuit against the celebrity cook, saying she was sexually harassed at the restaurant and that other employees experienced racial discrimination.

Lack of dental care can be nursing home neglect

People in nursing homes are often those who can't care for themselves because of an illness, injury or old age. They depend on caring and trained staff to care for their basic daily needs and some medical care. Part of their daily routine should be dental care, including brushing the patient's teeth and ensuring they have access to dentists if needed.
